Something I need to differentiate immediately is how a website should NEVER be considered a sales funnel. When you have a website, you have multiple pages a visitor can get lost in: Contact page, About Us, Blog, Homepage, Product Information, etc.
Having multiple pages is great for learning more about something/someone, but is awful for converting visitors into a lead/sale. I like to use the analogy of a bucket with holes in it and the visitors are the water you put in your bucket. The more places where you give people the opportunity to branch off, the more places someone can lose interest and leave, thus the holey bucket.
