Why Rig Mats Are Necessary

Construction mats are important while carrying out construction projects for a number of reasons. They allow heavy machinery to easily access uneven and inaccessible areas while also protecting the environment from possible damage. These damages include oil spills, destruction of vegetation etc. Construction mats act as temporary crossings, providing a stable, even base to machinery and workers, whilst also ensuring their safety. There are many different kinds of construction mats, each designated to a specific situation. Rig Mats support large construction equipment, particularly drilling rigs. Another use for them is as floors in machinery warehouses and shops. Having a steel frame, they are stronger, and withstand the weight of heavier machinery for long periods of time. They are used as crossings and as portable platforms across pipelines or uneven grounds. Furthermore, they allow easy maneuvering of machinery across bumpy land. They are environment sensitive applications, greatly minimizing damage to the site land, being a shield between the work platform and the ground. Subgrades are also protected by these mats. Hence, the efficiency of the construction process is ensured, and the quality of the environment is maintained.

Timber Mats are also used in uneven, rocky places or also areas such as marshes or wetlands. These mats are particularly useful on land that is not flat, as they act as an even layer for machinery to function on. As these mats are made of dense hardwood and oak, they are able to bear heavy loads. Apart from being used on uneven land, they are also useful in areas of flat land; grassy or muddy. They provide a temporary roadway to inaccessible terrain.
