A brief description of the different genres of Music


Musichas several genres and sub-genres. Each genre has its own peculiarity; no two genres are the same. The history behind the origin of several genres is also different. Some few genres of music will be addressed in this article, this is because there are so many genres of music, and they cannot all be explained in this article. Pay close attention to the peculiarity of each genre as this will help you identify them when next you hear them or go to a concert.  Having this basic knowledge about the genre of music will help you appreciate them when next you listen to them. 1.       What is Classical Music? This is the genre of music Ludwig van Beethoven is known for. He is one of the founding father of this genre. This genre of music is governed by strict sets of rules, which are there to guide the singers and instrument players. The principles guiding it are age-long principles laid down by its founding fathers. It is in this genre you hear of terms like sonata, concerto, and symphony. This genre of music was popular during the middle of the eighteenth century and the early parts of the nineteen century. This genre of music has a rich historical background. One of the distinct features of classical kind of music is that it must be written down. If this is not in place, it cannot be classified as classical. This genre of music has undergone some modifications and developments over the years. Some of its rule that was strict has been made fluid in order to accommodate change.
2.       What is Country Music? Many musicians in the United States of America are known with this genre of music. It originated in the southern part of US, the rural part to be specific. This genre of music gives the opportunity for its listeners to dance along. The guitar is one instrument that you will always hear in every country song. The songs under the genre always have the words like cowboy and horse mentioned in the lyrics, and also the singer will have a characteristic accent known to Southern US. This music is very simple and in most cases, the singer is telling a story.
3.       What is Jazz Music? This genre of music is one of the hallmarks of New Orleans located in the United States of America. It was the music of the African-American populace. There is no how the history of the African-American will be read and jazz will not be mentioned in it. The rhythmic pattern of jazz is what makes is distinct.
